Janine Ryle

Janine Ryle, co-director of Danse Maghreb, is an Ethnic dance performer and event producer. She holds a BA in Graphic Arts and Design. Her early training in the arts was in music and folkloric dance. She went on to study classical Egyptian dance with Magaña Baptiste; North African folkloric styles with John Compton, Amel Tafsout and Erin M’Rabet; Turkish Rom with Suzy Tekbilek, Dahlia Carrela, and Artemis Mourat, and Persian/Central Asian with Sharlyn Sawyer. In addition to Danse Maghreb, Janine has performed with Ballet Afsaneh, Hahbi ‘Ru Dance Ensemble and Magaña Baptiste and the San Francisco Royal Academy of Oriental Dance. She currently teaches North African dance in San Francisco. Janine has produced Ethnic music and dance festivals and fundraisers in the Bay Area since 1999, and is sought out by local artists for her promotional skills.
